The Mech 416 cast iron soil access pipe with a round door is available in the 50, 70, 100 & 150mm sizes.
Mech 416 Soil is a mechanically jointed range of socketless cast iron pipes and fittings in 50mm to 150mm diameters which are suitable for above-ground soil & waste installations. The Mech 416 system is especially suitable for the refurbishment of apartments, offices and multi-storey car parks.
Mechanically jointed systems provide all the benefits of a conventional BS416 socket and spigot cast iron soil system but also offer significant labour savings due to the efficient jointing techniques employed. The robust couplings for joining pipes and fittings are manufactured in ductile iron for optimum performance. No special installation tools or equipment are required. Conversion couplings allow connection to existing LCC soil or alternative generic mechanically jointed soil systems.
Compared to traditional LCC soil systems the Mech 416 system is lighter and easier to handle but still retains all the inherent qualities of cast iron including strength and longevity. Mech 416 also offers significant cost savings compared to caulk jointed sockets and spigot pipes.
Mech 416 Soil pipes are highly resistant to distortion caused by accident or vandalism and correctly installed and maintained Mech 416 Soil systems can last in excess of 100 years. This long life expectancy makes cast iron the cost-effective choice and because it is 100% recyclable at the end of its life, it is also the best option for the environment.
The Mech 416 system complies with the following standards and codes of practice:
• BS 416 part 2 – Soil, waste and ventilating pipes and fittings.
• BS 6087 – Flexible joints for BS 416 part 2.
• BS EN 12056 – Codes of practice for gravity drainage systems, internal buildings – sanitary pipework and drainage of roofs.
Mech 416 Soil pipes are finished with an Alkyd matt black coating with an average dry thickness of 70 microns. Pipes are internally coated with a two-part Epoxy coating yellow ochre colour, the average dry thickness of 130 microns. Fittings are internally and externally coated with a black Alkyd coating with an average dry film thickness of 70 microns.
